Her views on multiculturalism have not been popular (or accurate) and she managed to get dumped by the controversial Palmer United Party, but (now Independent) Senator Jacqui Lambie actually managed to convey a heartfelt message in parliament today.

Standing in opposition of new welfare legislation that would strip entitlements from those held in psychiatric care on criminal charges, Lambie revealed that her 21-year-old son has an ice addiction and could be one of those impacted negatively from the changes. She thinks that parents should be given the right to commit their drug-addicted children to rehabilitation.

“I can’t involuntarily detox my own son, because I am not talking to my son anymore, I’m talking to a drug,” she said. “And I can tell you, I’m not the only parent out there.”
